Full-time or part-time
We’re GCSD, one of the largest and most established accountants in the Cotswolds.
We act for more than 2200 clients and look after their combined revenue of almost £300 million.
In the past 5 years, our headcount has grown by 33% and we’re continuing to recruit at pace.
As for our clients, they’re spread all across the UK and in every sector imaginable. From wealthy individuals to global manufacturers, we have an uncommonly close relationship with them and act as an extension of their business. We’re often invited into boardrooms to advise on key business decisions, and it’s the reason why we’re still acting for companies we first met in the ‘90s.
This year we made another big move – joining the Xeinadin Group. It’s a new, innovative approach to finance which combines accountancy and business consultancy. Joining forces with hundreds of other regional firms like ours, together we now make the 17th largest practice in the UK – streets ahead of anybody else in Gloucestershire.
You’re looking for your next big step or a brand new start, with an employer that will challenge and support you in equal measure. You’re ambitious and hard-working, but you know there’s more to life than just your job, so flexibility and a good work/life balance is key. So is a good working environment and relationships with your colleagues and managers – because you’re looking to progress and want to work somewhere that will listen to your ideas, whatever your job title might be.
You’re (obviously) interested in the numbers side of things, but you also want to use your expertise in the bigger picture and play a part in advising clients on their business decisions.
Put short: you’re more than just bookkeeping.
About the job:

Looking after the books of thousands of clients in every sector you can think of, their work is integral for the accounting teams to be able to do their jobs. Working in small teams, alongside Client Managers and Senior Accountants, our bookkeepers are tenacious workers, comfortable with technology, and hyper detail focussed. Sound like you?

- Posting of purchase/sales invoices
- Bank reconciliations
- Preparing and posting accruals and prepayments
- Posting fixed asset and depreciation adjustments
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns and managing the deadlines
- Posting monthly journals
- Petty cash posting and reconciliation
- Review of key balances and highlighting issues to both clients and the client manager
- Taking the accounting records to trial balance stage
- Liaising with clients
- Liaising with other staff during preparation of annual accounts
- Plus, any other tasks arising from client enquiries or to fulfil the bookkeeping function.
We’re looking for an experienced bookkeeper, with a solid understanding of double entry bookkeeping, who wants to work in a challenging but supportive environment. It’s a fast-paced job with a high volume of work, so a proactive and positive attitude is essential. We use Sage, Xero, and QuickBooks Online – so if you know how to use these then great, but we can train you if not. What’s most important to us is the right character.
